GS Energy is exploring business opportunities through
battery recycling after electric vehicle use.
In June 2021, GS Energy signed an MOU with MinTech, a company specializing in battery condition diagnosis and evaluation technology, and GS EnBiz, which has a nationwide network for car maintenance, to develop the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) business model. Based on this, the company is expanding its efforts to recycle used batteries to contribute to the establishment of a circular resource ecosystem. Additionally, it is continuously laying the foundation for a Virtual Power Plant (VPP) business by collecting and analyzing data in real-time to gather surplus electricity from various distributed sources such as solar (PV), demand response (DR), and batteries (ESS) and supply it to where it is needed.
